VEIL PROTOCOL
Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 5, 2026
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF SERVICE CAREFULLY BEFORE USING VEIL. BY ACCESSING OR USING THE VEIL APPLICATION, WEBSITE, OR ANY RELATED SERVICES (COLLECTIVELY, THE "SERVICES"), YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT USE THE SERVICES.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User" or "you") and Veil Protocol ("Veil," "we," or "us") governing your use of the Services. You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Description of Services
Veil is a sovereign privacy protocol providing:
- Biometric self-sovereign identity (SSI) authentication
- End-to-end encrypted messaging
- Non-custodial multi-chain cryptocurrency wallet
- Decentralized WireGuard-based virtual private network (VPN)
- Privacy-hardened web browser
- Encrypted enterprise workspace
The Services are provided on an AS-IS, beta basis. Features, availability, and functionality may change at any time without notice.
3. Eligibility
3.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3.2 Biometric Enrollment
To access core features of Veil, you will complete a one-time biometric enrollment process capturing facial geometry, voice patterns, and keystroke dynamics. This data is processed exclusively on your local device. Raw biometric data is never transmitted to Veil servers or third parties. You consent to this local processing by completing enrollment.
3.3 Wallet Address
You may optionally provide a cryptocurrency wallet address to associate your identity with on-chain activity, including Veil Points accrual. You are solely responsible for any wallet address you provide.
4. Non-Custodial and Sovereign Design
Veil is architected so that no party — including Veil Protocol — can access, revoke, or control your identity, keys, or funds. Specifically:
- Your biometric identity is derived and stored locally on your device only
- Your private keys are generated from your biometric data and never leave your device
- Your wallet funds are non-custodial — Veil holds no assets on your behalf
- Your encrypted communications cannot be read by Veil or any node operator
Because Veil cannot access your identity or keys, Veil cannot terminate your protocol access. Your identity exists in the geometry of your face, the cadence of your voice, and the rhythm of your keystrokes — not on our servers. What we can limit is access to Veil-operated services (the hosted relay network, the update infrastructure, and the waitlist program) in cases of severe abuse or legal compulsion. The open-source protocol itself remains available to all.
5. User Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- Maintaining access to your enrolled device
- Securing your recovery credentials
- All transactions initiated through your wallet
- Compliance with applicable laws in your jurisdiction
Veil cannot recover lost access to your account, wallet, or encrypted data. There is no password reset. Loss of access to your enrolled device without recovery credentials may result in permanent loss of access to your Veil identity.
6. Veil Points and Token Program
Veil Points are non-transferable protocol credits that may convert to VEIL tokens at a future Token Generation Event (TGE), currently anticipated on or around January 15, 2027. Veil Points have no monetary value and are not a security, investment, or financial instrument. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Veil Points program at any time. Conversion of Veil Points to VEIL tokens is subject to applicable law, regulatory requirements, and separate token terms to be issued prior to TGE.
NOTHING IN THESE TERMS CONSTITUTES AN OFFER OR SOLICITATION TO BUY OR SELL ANY SECURITY OR FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT. VEIL POINTS AND ANY FUTURE VEIL TOKENS ARE UTILITY INSTRUMENTS ONLY.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the Services to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Engage in money laundering, terrorist financing, or sanctions evasion
- Transmit malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Attempt to reverse engineer security measures beyond what open-source licensing permits
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Use the Services in any jurisdiction where their use is prohibited
In cases of severe or illegal abuse, Veil may limit access to Veil-operated relay infrastructure. The open-source protocol and your local identity remain unaffected by any such action.
8. Privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to Veil's design. Veil's Privacy Policy, incorporated herein by reference, describes how we handle information. The core principle: your biometric data never leaves your device. We do not sell your data. We do not serve advertising. For questions, contact: veilprotocol@yahoo.com.
9. Intellectual Property
The Veil name, logo, and protocol design are proprietary to Veil Protocol. Open-source components of the Veil stack are licensed under their respective open-source licenses as published in the Veil GitHub repository. Nothing in these Terms grants you any license to use Veil's trademarks or proprietary marks without express written permission.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. VEIL EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND SECURITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VULNERABILITIES. BETA SOFTWARE MAY CONTAIN BUGS THAT COULD RESULT IN DATA LOSS.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VEIL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF FUNDS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF ACCESS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL VEIL'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100 USD).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Veil Protocol and its contributors from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted at veilprotocol.net/terms with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated to registered users where contact information is available.
15. Service Modifications
Veil may modify, suspend, or discontinue Veil-operated infrastructure (relay nodes, update servers, hosted services) at any time. Because the protocol is non-custodial and open-source, your identity, keys, and funds remain under your control regardless of the status of Veil-operated services. The core protocol is designed to be forkable and community-operable in perpetuity.
